Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is a common issue that can occur from acute injuries, repetitive movement strains, overuse, and day or day wear and tear.

At Pursuit Physiotherapy, our physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists are here to help you address your pain, manage your symptoms and get you back to healthy function.

What causes Shoulder Pain?

Shoulder pain can happen due to a wide variety of reasons. Sudden acute trauma or a repetitive movement/strain are common causes. For example, falling off your bike and onto your shoulder, being involved in a car accident, a sport injury leading to a muscle strain, or overusing the arm in repetitive movements which leads to inflammation in the joint. Shoulder pain can also occur from everyday wear and tear.

Symptoms of Shoulder Pain

If your shoulder is injured or irritated, you may find yourself experiencing:

  • Significant weakness and limited range of motion in comparison to the other shoulder.

  • Pain, discomfort, or difficulty using your arm in day to day life such as when driving, carrying things, or putting on a jacket.

  • Pain when lifting the arm in certain movements, such as lifting the arm over the head, externally rotating, and reaching your hand behind your back.

  • Having trouble sleeping on your side.
