What is WorkSafe BC?

If you are suffering from a work-related injury, WorkSafe BC or WCB is here to support you in your rehabilitation so that you can get back to health and return to pre-injury work safely and in a timely manner.

WorkSafe BC covers services including Physiotherapy, Chiropractic Treatment and Massage Therapy to support your recovery. To find out more about direct billing, click here.

Am I eligible for WORKSAFE BC?

WorkSafe will consider many factors surrounding the nature of your injury including assessing reports from you, your employer, and health care providers to determine your health care benefits.

Once your claim has been accepted, you can book a WorksafeBC appointment at our clinic Pursuit Physiotherapy in Victoria, BC , we can process your treatment sessions with WorkSafe using just the following information:

  • Your WorkSafe claim number

  • The date of your injury

  • Contact details of your case manager if you have been assigned to one

How do I Make a WORKSAFE claim?

You can contact WorkSafe BC to make a report and submit a claim. Workplace injuries or illnesses can also be reported online. Your employer can also submit an employer’s report online.

How much will I need to Pay for A WORKSAFE treatment?

You won’t have to pay for your treatment sessions as they are covered by WorkSafe BC. However, please keep in mind that any fees incurred through late cancellations or no-shows are not covered by WorkSafe and will need to be covered by you.

What does WORKSAFE treatments look like?

Physiotherapy Treatment Services with WorkSafe:

  • Initial Assessment: During your first session, our physiotherapists will conduct an extensive assessment on your injury, movement, and pain. We will also gain an understanding of your work demands and how your injury is impacting your return to work. Our therapists will also be in contact with your employer and WorkSafe to discuss your job demands and explore return-to-work opportunities.

  • Treatment Plan: Our physiotherapists will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan that includes evidence-based education, manual therapy, exercise programming and dry needling to help you regain a full recovery. This is typically a treatment period of 6 weeks or a maximum of 15 visits. If further treatment is identified, an extension may be requested.

  • Discharge: Once you have been cleared to head back to work and treatment is no longer needed, you will be discharged from treatment!

What If my Worksafe Claim has not been approved yet?

You can still receive physiotherapy treatment on a pending WorkSafe claim provided that initial assessment occurs within 60 days of the date of injury. You will just be required to make the full payment of your treatment on the day and once your claim has been approved, WorkSafe will reimburse you.
